British American Tobacco

BAT Zimbabwe traces its roots to 1920 and listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange in 1959. Following the 1999 global merger of British American Tobacco plc and Rothmans International, the two companies' Zimbabwean operations were rationalised: in 2000, BAT Zimbabwe merged with Rothmans of Pall Mall (Zimbabwe) to form British American Tobacco Zimbabwe (Holdings) Limited, with the merged entity listing on the ZSE with effect from July 2001. The combined company became the largest manufacturer and distributor of cigarette and tobacco products in Zimbabwe, with a portfolio including Dunhill, Rothmans and Benson & Hedges.

Corporate structure

BAT Zimbabwe is a subsidiary of British American Tobacco plc, operating as a leaf-growing, manufacturing and distribution business for cigarette and tobacco products in the Zimbabwean market. The company is governed by a Board comprising a Non-Executive Chairman, several Independent and Non-Executive Directors, a Managing Director and Finance Director as executive members, and a Company Secretary, supported by an in-country Leadership Team covering finance, regulatory affairs, operations and human resources.
