Kavango Resources PLC

Kavango Resources PLC is a Southern Africa focused metals exploration and gold production company. It grew out of Kavango Minerals, co-founded by geophysicist Hillary Gumbo, and applies advanced geophysical techniques — airborne surveys, CSAMT and induced polarisation, alongside diamond and reverse-circulation drilling — to exploration in Botswana and Zimbabwe.

The company has its primary listing on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange under the code KAV, and took a secondary listing on the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange to broaden investor access; the counter trades there as KAV.VX. On listing, Thamsanqa Mpofu was appointed Chairman of Kavango Zimbabwe (Private) Limited, the group's wholly owned Zimbabwean subsidiary.

Corporate structure

Kavango pursues a dual-track strategy: near-term mechanised gold production in Zimbabwe's greenstone belts, and large-scale copper and base-metal exploration in Botswana.

Its Zimbabwean portfolio comprises the Hillside Project — including the Nightshift, Steenbok, Bill's Luck and Britain deposits — together with the Nara and Leopard projects. In Botswana the company holds the Kalahari Copper Belt Project. Mining methods in Zimbabwe include spiral decline and mechanised mining as well as shaft mining.

Operations are run through country subsidiaries, with Kavango Zimbabwe (Private) Limited holding the Zimbabwean assets under a local general manager and a Botswana business under its own managing director. The Board is supported by a bench of consulting mining engineers, geophysicists and geologists.
