Cookie Policy
What we set, what we ask permission for, and how to say no.
Cookies are small files a site asks your browser to keep. We use very few of them. The ones that keep you signed in and remember your theme are set automatically because the site cannot work without them. The only other ones are Google Analytics, which we set solely if you accept them, and which you can decline with no loss of function. There are no advertising cookies on this site.
What we set
| Cookie | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
stockszw-session | Keeps you signed in and ties your requests to your session. Essential. | 120 minutes of inactivity |
XSRF-TOKEN | Protects forms against cross-site request forgery. Essential. | Session |
remember_web_* | Set only if you tick “remember me” at sign-in, so you stay signed in between visits. | Until you sign out |
appearance | Remembers whether you chose the light, dark or system theme. | 1 year |
sidebar_state | Remembers whether you left the dashboard sidebar open or collapsed. | 7 days |
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics. Counts visits and tells us which pages get read, so we know what to build next. Set only if you press Accept on the banner — until then the Google script is never even downloaded. | 2 years |
We also keep two values in your browser’s localStorage: appearance, your theme choice, so the right theme paints before the page loads and you do not get a flash of the wrong one; and cookie-consent, your answer to the banner, so we do not ask again on every page. Neither value ever leaves your device.
What we do not set
- No advertising or retargeting cookies.
- No tracking pixels.
- No social-network embeds that would set cookies of their own.
- No cross-site profiling, and nothing sold on to anyone. We have turned off Google’s advertising features, so the analytics data is not used to target ads at you.
Changing your mind
Your answer to the banner is remembered in localStorage under cookie-consent. Clearing your browser storage for this site resets it and the banner asks again. To withdraw consent after accepting, clear that storage and press Decline, or block cookies for this site in your browser — and delete any _ga cookies already set. Declining costs you nothing: every part of the site works exactly the same.
Turning them off
Every browser lets you block or delete cookies, usually under Settings → Privacy. Blocking the essential ones will stop you signing in — the site cannot keep you authenticated without a session cookie. Blocking the preference ones is harmless: the theme and sidebar simply revert to their defaults on your next visit.
Reading the site without signing in sets no cookies at all beyond the session cookie needed to protect forms.
